Impact
Since 2014, this sale raised $14,000 to feed the faith of youth, families, and young adults through Camp Koinonia (ELCA outdoor camp), Bible Translation and Missionary Work in Africa, and ELCA Youth in Global Mission. During that same time, we also raised $4,600 for Family Promise of Bergen County. $27,500 has also been sent around the world through ELCA World Hunger, Lutheran Disaster Response, Church World Service, a Lutheran mission among the Navajo people, and Lutheran World Relief. And during this time, this sale generated $9,500 to feed people in Northern New Jersey through the Center for Food Action, Tri-Boro Food Pantry, and Meals on Wheels of Northern NJ.

Who are the "Christ Lutheran Church Women"?
What do they do?   Who do they serve?

Christ Lutheran Church Women (sometimes referred to as CLCW) is the Committee that represents all confirmed women of our church. This group is designed to encourage the women of the congregation to grow in faith, support one another, engage in ministry and action and to promote healing and wholeness in the church and the world.

The duties of the Committee are varied:
We organize and run the annual Trash & Treasure Sale - usually the first Saturday in May.  Everyone is welcome to work on the sale. Work begins about three weeks before and includes plenty of fun and food to keep you happy.  You can decide where you want to work and when. We donate our unsold items and clothing to a variety of charities. We provide monetary donations to many charities- both local and worldwide. These include: ELCA Hunger & Disaster Appeals, Tri-Boro Food Pantry, school kits for needy children, The Center for Food Action, ELCA Good gifts and Meals on Wheels .  Suggestions as to where to donate money are welcome from female members of the church. Some of the money is spent at church, helping with key capital projects and programs.

The school kits are packed up and sent to Church World Services.  Monetary donations are sent to purchase goats and chickens and to fund schooling for some girls and health care for many children (through the Good Gifts programs).

We usually fund one capital improvement project at church every year, using some of the proceeds from the Trash & Treasure Sale.  For some projects that are especially expensive, we save for a few years until we can fund the entire thing.  The last big projects included the renovation of the two bathrooms in the Opsal wing. Another renovation project is planned for 2026. Suggestions can be made by any CLCW member.

Our Annual Meeting is usually the second Sunday in January. It starts about 11:30 a.m. and includes a delicious buffet lunch of soup, sandwiches and desserts. We have a short business meeting, where we review what we did in the previous year, plans for the next year and suggestions for our Budget and Benevolences. Women are encouraged join us and bring suggestions for any of the above-mentioned items. It is always delicious and fun. Consider joining us!
