Who are the "Christ Lutheran Church Women"?

Christ Lutheran Church Women (sometimes referred to as CLCW) is the Committee that represents all confirmed women of our church. This group is designed to encourage the women of the congregation to grow in faith, support one another, engage in ministry and action and to promote healing and wholeness in the church and the world.

The duties of the Committee are varied:
We oversee and coordinate one Circle (small group) that meet every month.

We organize and run the annual Trash & Treasure sale-usually the first or second Saturday in May.  Everyone is welcome to work on the sale . . . works begins about three weeks before . . . and includes plenty of fun and food to keep you happy.  You can decide where you want to work and when. We also donate our unsold items to a variety of charities. These include: Shelter our Sisters, Star of Hope Ministries, Grandmother’s Cupboard and the Salvation Army. Stuffed animals were taken to the Red Cross and the books donated to a reading program.  We also provided monetary donations to ELCA Hunger & Disaster Appeals, Interreligious Fellowship for the Homeless, L W R, The Center for Food Action, The Navajo Mission, Mexico Mission and to support mission work.  Suggestions as to where to donate money are welcome from female members of the church. Some of the money is spent at church, reducing the mortgage, and helping with key capital projects and programs.

In the fall, there is usually
a retreat to Koinonia (a Lutheran Camp in NY State), where the attendees have a chance to enjoy the nature that is Koinonia, relax and read, and just have fun. We also hold yearly events such as when Spiritual Artist/Potter, Ray Boswell, came with an inspirational message of hope while we made pottery.

Helping Hands kits and School kits are packed up and sent to Church World Services, along with a monetary donation to purchase goats and chickens and to fund schooling for some girls and inoculations for many children.

We meet regularly with our annual meeting usually on the second Sunday in January. We have a short meeting, review the previous year, and enjoy a delicious buffet lunch of soup and desserts. Consider joining us!
